

Neal believes in the power of mentorship and educational opportunities. Over the years, he has:
Neal and his wife, Jan, are proud recipients of the Gates Volunteer Service Award and have supported the University of Washington for over 40 years. Beyond the classroom, Neal has extensive experience working within the entrepreneurship environment, providing mentorship to budding entrepreneurs through Neal’s Running Start: an intensive program that brings entrepreneurs to Silicon Valley to learn from Neal and his network.


In the past, Neal has served on the board for the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). Now, he continues to support their many important initiatives in the community of Aspen, Colorado. He is also a veteran on the Pacific Clinics board, California’s largest community-based nonprofit provider of high-quality behavioral health care. This organization helps thousands of children and their family members recover from trauma such as abuse, severe neglect, addiction, and poverty.
Neal is an active ally in encouraging more women into the investment community. He mentors women CEOs and finds opportunities wherever he can to invest in women-led businesses. Most recently, he has worked with Dopple and Mave & Chez, two women-led and run organizations making a splash in the business world.
In addition, Neal led a podcast series on women in business called Passing the Mic: The VC Exchange.
